Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu and meet your Mantra Adventure climbing team. Comprehensive briefing covers Pisang Peak's technical characteristics — a 6,091-metre summit on the Annapurna Circuit route — permits, equipment and the 18-day programme. Welcome dinner. Meals: Dinner.

Drive 4 hours to Besisahar — the classic Annapurna Circuit starting point — then continue by jeep up the Marsyangdi Valley to Dharapani. The valley is lush, green and subtropical at this elevation. Meals: All included.

Trek up the deepening Marsyangdi gorge through pine forest. First views of the massive Annapurna II appear above the valley walls. Chame, the district headquarters of Manang, has lodges, shops and a pleasant hot spring. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Trek through the spectacular curved rock face above Chame — one of the largest natural rock walls in the Himalaya — and emerge into the wide Manang Valley. Upper Pisang offers a fine monastery and first close-up views of Pisang Peak itself. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Trek the high route above the valley floor through Ghyaru and Ngawal — two of the finest viewpoints on the entire Annapurna Circuit — with continuous panoramas of the Annapurna massif. Arrive in Manang, the last major village before the high country. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Rest and acclimatise. Morning hike to Ice Lake (4,600m) for altitude exposure and stunning views of Annapurna III and Gangapurna. Equipment preparation with your climbing guide — check crampons, harness, rope, ice axe, ascending devices. Meals: All included.

Leave the Annapurna Circuit and ascend to Pisang Peak Base Camp at approximately 4,250 metres. Establish camp, sort equipment, and conduct initial technical briefing. Views of the peak above camp are both inspiring and sobering. Meals: All included.

Practice sessions at base camp: crampon technique on snow and ice, fixed line ascending, rope management, descending with figure-of-eight devices. Your climbing guide assesses each climber's technical readiness for the summit push. Meals: All included.

Carry loads to high camp at approximately 5,500 metres. This involves crossing a glacier and ascending fixed ropes. First genuine technical climbing. Return to base camp or overnight at high camp. Meals: All included.

Pre-dawn departure from high camp. The summit ridge of Pisang Peak is a technical snow and ice climb requiring crampons, ice axes and fixed rope management. The summit at 6,091 metres offers one of the finest 360-degree views in the Annapurna region — Manaslu, the Annapurna massif, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Thorong La and the vast Tibetan plateau to the north. Reserve day follows if needed. Descend to base camp. Meals: All included.

Descend from base camp back to Manang. The altitude loss is immediate and welcome. Celebration dinner at a Manang lodge. Meals: All included.

Rejoin the Annapurna Circuit and continue the classic route — ascending through high pastures towards the Thorong La crossing. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

Short ascent to the teahouses of Thorong Phedi and then the steep climb to High Camp in preparation for the Thorong La crossing. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

Pre-dawn crossing of the Thorong La — one of the highest trekking passes in the world. 3–4 hours of sustained climbing to the summit, then a long descent to Muktinath. Visit the sacred temple complex before descending further. Walking time: 8–10 hours. Meals: All included.

Descend through the Kali Gandaki gorge to Jomsom — the main hub of the Mustang region. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

20-minute flight through the gorge to Pokhara. Afternoon at leisure beside Phewa Lake. Celebratory dinner. Overnight: Pokhara. Meals: Breakfast, dinner.

Morning flight to Kathmandu. Final afternoon for shopping or sightseeing. Farewell dinner with your climbing team. Overnight: Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast, dinner.

Airport transfer. You have summited a 6,000-metre Himalayan peak and completed the Annapurna Circuit — two of Nepal's greatest adventures in a single journey. Meals: Breakfast.

Essential Tips

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). Spring brings rhododendron blooms and stable weather; Autumn offers crystal-clear post-monsoon visibility. Nepal trips in these windows deliver optimal mountain views.

This trip is rated Challenging. Requires good fitness and ideally prior high-altitude or multi-day trekking experience. Begin cardio and hiking training 3 months before departure.

Most nationalities get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport for USD 30 (30 days). Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Required permits and TIMS card arranged by Mantra Adventure. No extra hassle for you.

Included: Airport transfers; domestic flights/transport per itinerary; all trek accommodation; all meals during trek; English-speaking guide; porters (1 per 2 trekkers); all trekking permits; Mantra Adventure duffel bag. Not included: International flights; Nepal visa; personal travel insurance (mandatory); personal gear; tips.

For Pisang Peak Climbing (Challenging): Cardiovascular fitness built over 3-4 months including hill walks with a pack. Prior trekking experience strongly recommended.

Maximum altitude is 6,091m / Pisang Peak. Altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,500m. Our itinerary includes acclimatisation days and our guides carry supplemental oxygen. Diamox can be taken as prophylaxis — consult your doctor. Emergency evacuation insurance is mandatory.
