Itinerary

Your Pokhara paragliding experience begins with a 30-minute transfer from your hotel to the Sarangkot launch site at 1,592 metres — a ridge above the city with a sweeping view of the Pokhara Valley, Phewa Lake and the full Annapurna-Machhapuchhre skyline. After a safety briefing and equipment fitting with your internationally certified tandem pilot, you take a short run down the grassy slope and — with remarkable suddenness — you are airborne. The thermal air currents above Pokhara are some of the finest in Asia: your flight typically lasts 30–45 minutes, soaring above terraced hillsides and the turquoise expanse of Phewa Lake with Machhapuchhre's double summit reaching 6,993 metres directly ahead. Your pilot explains the mechanics of flight and, for the adventurous, can demonstrate acrobatic turns and spirals. The landing zone is on the shores of Phewa Lake itself. GoPro footage and photos are available. Note: Paragliding is weather-dependent; alternative dates can usually be arranged. Meals: Not included.

Essential Tips

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). Spring brings rhododendron blooms and stable weather; Autumn offers crystal-clear post-monsoon visibility. Nepal trips in these windows deliver optimal mountain views.

This trip is rated Easy. Suitable for beginners with basic fitness — walking 3-4 times per week for 4-6 weeks is adequate. No technical experience needed.

Most nationalities get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport for USD 30 (30 days). Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Required permits and TIMS card arranged by Mantra Adventure. No extra hassle for you.

Included: Airport transfers; domestic flights/transport per itinerary; all trek accommodation; all meals during trek; English-speaking guide; porters (1 per 2 trekkers); all trekking permits; Mantra Adventure duffel bag. Not included: International flights; Nepal visa; personal travel insurance (mandatory); personal gear; tips.

For Paragliding in Pokhara (Easy): Regular walking or swimming 3×/week for 6 weeks is sufficient. You should be comfortable walking 5-6 hours on uneven terrain.

Maximum altitude is 1,500m / Sarangkot. At this elevation, altitude sickness is uncommon for healthy trekkers who follow our paced itinerary. Walk slowly, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol initially.
