Itinerary

The Trishuli River is Nepal's most popular rafting destination and one of the finest one-day river adventures in Asia. Transfer from Kathmandu (2 hours) to the put-in point on the Trishuli — a wide, powerful river that drains the Langtang Himalaya and flows through dramatic gorge scenery before meeting the Ganges system in India. Your professional guide team delivers a comprehensive safety briefing: paddle commands, swimming techniques for rapids, T-rescue and flip recovery. After a warm-up on a calm section, the rafting begins in earnest — Grade II and III rapids with names like Upset, Ladies' Delight and Surprise provide an exhilarating sequence of drops and waves through the gorge. Between rapids the scenery is spectacular: terraced hillsides, water buffalo grazing on sandy banks, kingfishers and grey herons fishing the margins. A riverside lunch prepared by your support crew. The afternoon section builds to the day's biggest rapids before the take-out point. Return transfer to Kathmandu or Pokhara. Total rafting time: approximately 4–5 hours. Meals: Lunch.

Essential Tips

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). Spring brings rhododendron blooms and stable weather; Autumn offers crystal-clear post-monsoon visibility. Nepal trips in these windows deliver optimal mountain views.

This trip is rated Easy. Suitable for beginners with basic fitness — walking 3-4 times per week for 4-6 weeks is adequate. No technical experience needed.

Most nationalities get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport for USD 30 (30 days). Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Required permits and TIMS card arranged by Mantra Adventure. No extra hassle for you.

Included: Airport transfers; domestic flights/transport per itinerary; all trek accommodation; all meals during trek; English-speaking guide; porters (1 per 2 trekkers); all trekking permits; Mantra Adventure duffel bag. Not included: International flights; Nepal visa; personal travel insurance (mandatory); personal gear; tips.

For Trishuli River Rafting (Easy): Regular walking or swimming 3×/week for 6 weeks is sufficient. You should be comfortable walking 5-6 hours on uneven terrain.

Maximum altitude is 500m / Trishuli River. Altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,500m. Our itinerary includes acclimatisation days and our guides carry supplemental oxygen. Diamox can be taken as prophylaxis — consult your doctor. Emergency evacuation insurance is mandatory.
