Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu and meet your Mantra Adventure climbing team. Mera Peak (6,476m) is the highest trekking peak in Nepal — a non-technical summit accessible to fit, determined trekkers with no prior climbing experience. The views from the summit (Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga) represent the finest high-altitude panorama of any Himalayan trekking peak. Welcome dinner. Meals: Dinner.

35-minute flight to Lukla. Rest afternoon in preparation for tomorrow's initial trek. Meals: All included.

The Mera Peak approach diverges south from Lukla onto a quiet trail rarely used by trekkers. Descend through subtropical forest into the Hinku valley — a completely different Nepal from the crowded EBC route. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Continue through forest and terraced farmland. The Hinku Valley is remote and beautiful — you may walk for hours without encountering another trekker. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Trek through the middle Hinku valley. The peaks above the valley walls begin to appear. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Continue north up the Hinku valley. The vegetation thins as altitude increases. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Ascend to Kothe — the first village with direct views of Mera Peak's broad summit dome above the valley head. The scale of Mera, highest trekking peak in Nepal, is immediately apparent. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Trek to Thaknak through increasingly barren terrain — glacial moraines replace the valley vegetation. Walking time: 4–5 hours. Meals: All included.

Critical acclimatisation day at 4,358 metres. Equipment check and technical session with your climbing guide. Crampons, ice axe, fixed line techniques practiced on nearby terrain. Meals: All included.

Ascend to Khare — the last camp before Base Camp, at 5,045 metres. The altitude demands slow movement and constant hydration. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

Carry loads to high camp at approximately 5,700 metres — acclimatisation and preparation for the summit push. Return to Khare or sleep at high camp. Walking time: 4–5 hours. Meals: All included.

Pre-dawn departure. The ascent to Mera Peak's summit dome is a long glacier walk followed by a steeper summit push — non-technical but demanding at high altitude. At 6,476 metres, the summit panorama is unmatched: Everest (8,849m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,485m), Cho Oyu (8,188m) and Kanchenjunga (8,586m) all simultaneously visible — five of the world's six highest mountains from a single viewpoint. Reserve day follows. Meals: All included.

Reserve summit day if weather prevented ascent, or begin the long descent back to Thaknak. Meals: All included.

Continue descent through the Hinku valley. Meals: All included.

Return to Lukla via the Zatrawa La pass — a high crossing through the ridge separating the Hinku valley from the Khumbu. Walking time: 7–8 hours. Meals: All included.

Morning flight to Kathmandu. Celebration dinner. Overnight: Kathmandu hotel. Meals: Breakfast, dinner.

Buffer for weather delays or free time in Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast.

Airport transfer for your international departure. Mera Peak — the highest trekking peak in Nepal, with a five-8,000-metre summit panorama — is one of the world's finest high-altitude achievements. Meals: Breakfast.

Essential Tips

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). Spring brings rhododendron blooms and stable weather; Autumn offers crystal-clear post-monsoon visibility. Nepal trips in these windows deliver optimal mountain views.

This trip is rated Moderate to Strenuous. Requires good fitness and ideally prior high-altitude or multi-day trekking experience. Begin cardio and hiking training 3 months before departure.

Most nationalities get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport for USD 30 (30 days). Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Required permits and TIMS card arranged by Mantra Adventure. No extra hassle for you.

Included: Airport transfers; domestic flights/transport per itinerary; all trek accommodation; all meals during trek; English-speaking guide; porters (1 per 2 trekkers); all trekking permits; Mantra Adventure duffel bag. Not included: International flights; Nepal visa; personal travel insurance (mandatory); personal gear; tips.

For Mera Peak Climbing (Moderate to Strenuous): Cardiovascular fitness built over 3-4 months including hill walks with a pack. Prior trekking experience strongly recommended.

Maximum altitude is 6,476m / Mera Peak. Altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,500m. Our itinerary includes acclimatisation days and our guides carry supplemental oxygen. Diamox can be taken as prophylaxis — consult your doctor. Emergency evacuation insurance is mandatory.
