Paragliding in Pokhara, Nepal
Tandem flights over phewa Lake with the Annapurna Himalaya as your backdrop. No experience needed.
Three steps off a hillside at 1,592 metres. Then silence – just the wind, the glider, and a panorama that stretches from Machapuchare’s shark-tooth summit across the full Annapurna range to the glittering mirror of Phewa Lake below.
Paragliding in Pokhara is consistently ranked among the top five tandem paragliding experiences in the world. The launch site at Sarangkot delivers stable thermal conditions almost year-round, a large lake as a natural safety net, and Himalayan views that no other paragliding destination on earth can match.
Flights last 20 to 30 minutes. Your pilot – CIVL-certified and NCAA-licensed – handles everything. Your only job is to enjoy it.
Mantra Adventure organises tandem paragliding with Pokhara’s most experienced, certified operators. We handle hotel pickup, transport to Sarangkot, the flight, and your return – so you arrive, you fly, you land with a smile.

What to Expect on Your Paragliding Flight
Morning pickup
We collect you from your Pokhara hotel and drive 30 minutes up to Sarangkot viewpoint. You’ll arrive as the morning thermals are building — the ideal flying window.
Safety briefing
Your certified pilot walks you through the three-step launch, body position in flight, and landing technique. The whole briefing takes about 10 minutes. Questions are welcome.
The flight
You launch from the grassy slopes of Sarangkot at 1,592 metres. Within seconds you’re soaring above the patchwork of Pokhara’s rooftops, the deep blue of Phewa Lake spreading below. To the north, the entire Annapurna Himalaya fills the horizon — Annapurna I (8,091m), Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal. In peak season you’ll share the thermals with Himalayan griffon vultures riding the same columns of warm air.
Standard flights last 20-30 minutes. Extended cross-country flights cover more of the lake and push closer to the Annapurna foothills — around 60 minutes in the air.
Landing
Your pilot brings you down gently on the grass at Lakeside. We transfer you back to your
hotel.
Paragliding in Pokhara – Prices 2026
| Flight Type | Duration | Price (per person) |
| Standard tandem | 20-30 min | $90 USD |
| Extended/cross-country | 60 min | $110 USD |
| GoPro video package | —– | +$25 USD |
Prices include hotel pickup, transport to Sarangkot, all equipment, and the flight. Nepal visa, travel insurance, and tips are not included.
Why prices vary online: Many operators on Pokhara’s Lakeside road quote lower prices but use unlicensed pilots or inadequate equipment. All serious incidents in Pokhara paragliding have involved uncertified operators. We only work with NCAA-licensed companies and CIVL-certified pilots.
Best Time to Go Paragliding in Nepal
October and November are peak season — – post-monsoon skies are crystal clear, visibility is exceptional, and the Himalayan views are at their best. Expect crowds and book ahead.
March and April are the second-best window. Temperatures are warmer, rhododendrons are in bloom on the hillsides, and visibility is excellent.
December to February — flights operate but can be cold at altitude. Clear days still offer outstanding views.
June to September (monsoon) — paragliding is suspended during heavy monsoon. Occasional clear days in June and September allow flying, but this period is not recommended.
Safety – What You Need to Know
Pokhara paragliding has an excellent safety record when you fly with licensed operators.
Here’s what to look for:
NCAA licence – Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal regulates paragliding operators. All legitimate companies display their licence.
CIVL certification — pilots should hold certification from the Fédération
Aéronautique Internationale.
Modern equipment – gliders should be EN-certified and inspected regularly.
Weather monitoring – reputable operators cancel or delay flights when conditions aren’t ideal. If an operator pushes you to fly in bad weather, walk away.
Mantra Adventure only partners with operators who meet all of the above standards.
Weight and age requirements: Participants must be between 20 kg and 90 kg. Minimum age is 10 years. Children under 15 require a parent or guardian. If you have heart conditions, epilepsy, or recent surgery, consult your doctor before flying.
