Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu and meet your Mantra Adventure climbing team. Transfer to Thamel hotel for a comprehensive briefing covering the technical aspects of the Lobuche East ascent (6,119m), permit requirements, equipment checks and the full 19-day programme. This is a genuine mountaineering expedition on a 6,000-metre peak. Welcome dinner. Meals: Dinner.

35-minute mountain flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi River through pine and rhododendron forest. This is the beginning of a long journey to one of the Himalaya's most rewarding summits. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

Cross the Hillary Bridge and enter Sagarmatha National Park. The 600-metre climb to Namche is the first test of the legs. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Critical acclimatisation day. Morning hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880m) with your climbing guide for an initial assessment of altitude tolerance. Equipment inspection: crampons, harness, ice axe, helmet, fixed line ascenders. Afternoon free in Namche. Meals: All included.

Trek through rhododendron and silver fir forest to Tengboche Monastery. The Ama Dablam's elegant pyramid dominates the skyline throughout. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Descend through forest to Pangboche — the oldest village in the Khumbu — then ascend into the wide Imja Valley above the tree line. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

High-altitude acclimatisation hike to approximately 5,100 metres above Dingboche. Your climbing guide assesses altitude adaptation, pacing and technical readiness. Return to Dingboche for the afternoon. Meals: All included.

Trek along the glacier moraine past the Thukla Pass memorial to Lobuche — your base for the next several days. First views of Lobuche East's summit pyramid from the tea house. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Move from Lobuche to the base camp at approximately 5,100 metres, establishing tents and sorting climbing equipment. The team acclimatises and the climbing guide assesses conditions on the ridge above. Meals: All included.

Rest day at base camp. Practice crampon techniques, rope handling and use of ascending devices on nearby terrain. Climbing guides assess each team member's technical fitness and confidence. Meals: All included.

Carry loads from base camp to high camp at approximately 5,600 metres. This involves the first section of technical climbing — a fixed rope section on mixed rock and ice. Return to base camp or sleep at high camp depending on conditions. Meals: All included.

Pre-dawn start from high camp — typically 2–3am. The summit push involves fixed rope sections, front-pointing on steep ice, and a final ridge scramble to the summit at 6,119 metres. On a clear day, the summit panorama is incomparable: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and the full Khumbu glacier below. Reserve day follows if weather prevents summit. Descend to base camp or Lobuche for the night. Meals: All included.

Reserve summit day if Day 12 was weather-blocked, or use as a bonus visit to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Kala Patthar (5,545m) — the finest viewpoints in the Khumbu. A perfect coda to the climbing achievement. Meals: All included.

Long descent day from high altitude, covering significant ground to Tengboche. The lower altitude brings back appetite, sleep quality and energy. Walking time: 6–7 hours. Meals: All included.

Continue descent through birch and rhododendron forest to Namche. Celebrate the summit with apple pie and hot chocolate at one of Namche's famous bakeries. Walking time: 4–5 hours. Meals: All included.

Trek south along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and descending through pine forest. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

Final trekking day and farewell ceremony with your Sherpa and support crew. Walking time: 3 hours. Meals: All included.

Morning flight back to Kathmandu. Celebration dinner in the evening. You are a 6,000-metre Himalayan peak summiteer. Overnight: Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast, dinner.

Airport transfer for your international departure. End of Mantra Adventure services. Meals: Breakfast.

Essential Tips

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). Spring brings rhododendron blooms and stable weather; Autumn offers crystal-clear post-monsoon visibility. Nepal trips in these windows deliver optimal mountain views.

This trip is rated Challenging. Requires good fitness and ideally prior high-altitude or multi-day trekking experience. Begin cardio and hiking training 3 months before departure.

Most nationalities get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport for USD 30 (30 days). Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Required permits and TIMS card arranged by Mantra Adventure. No extra hassle for you.

Included: Airport transfers; domestic flights/transport per itinerary; all trek accommodation; all meals during trek; English-speaking guide; porters (1 per 2 trekkers); all trekking permits; Mantra Adventure duffel bag. Not included: International flights; Nepal visa; personal travel insurance (mandatory); personal gear; tips.

For Lobuche Peak Climbing (Challenging): Cardiovascular fitness built over 3-4 months including hill walks with a pack. Prior trekking experience strongly recommended.

Maximum altitude is 6,119m / Lobuche East. Altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,500m. Our itinerary includes acclimatisation days and our guides carry supplemental oxygen. Diamox can be taken as prophylaxis — consult your doctor. Emergency evacuation insurance is mandatory.
