Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu and meet your Mantra Adventure guide. The Langtang Valley Trek — just 51 km north of Kathmandu — is Nepal's closest high-altitude trekking destination to the capital and one of the most rewarding. Welcome dinner included. Meals: Dinner.

5–6 hour drive through river gorges and terraced hillsides to Syabrubesi — the trailhead village for Langtang National Park. The drive itself is scenic and an adventure on Nepal's mountain roads. Overnight in a comfortable teahouse. Meals: All included.

Enter Langtang National Park and trek north through sub-tropical forest along the Langtang Khola. Watch for red pandas in the bamboo thickets — Langtang is one of Nepal's best red panda habitats. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

The valley opens dramatically from forest into wide yak-grazed meadows. Langtang Village — rebuilt with remarkable community spirit after the 2015 earthquake — is warm and welcoming. Walking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: All included.

Trek up the glacial floor of the upper valley to the ancient Kyanjin Gompa monastery. The Kyanjin Cheese Factory — established with Swiss assistance in the 1950s — produces exceptional yak cheese. Walking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: All included.

Acclimatisation and exploration day. Hike up Kyanjin Ri for sweeping views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Dorje Lakpa and the glacial system. Afternoon at leisure: visit the monastery, taste fresh yak cheese, watch sunset on the glacier. Meals: All included.

The finest viewpoint in the Langtang region. The steep 4–5 hour return climb to Tserko Ri at 4,984 metres delivers a panoramic view over the entire valley and surrounding 6,000-metre peaks. One of Nepal's great non-technical summits. Meals: All included.

Begin the descent back south, retracing through Langtang Village and into the forest zone. The altitude drop is significant and welcome. Walking time: 6–7 hours. Meals: All included.

Final trekking day back to Syabrubesi, then 5–6 hour drive to Kathmandu. Arrive for a farewell dinner. Meals: All included.

Airport transfer for your international departure. The Langtang Valley — its rebuilt community, glacial upper valley and Tamang Buddhist culture — is Nepal's closest and most underrated high-altitude destination. Meals: Breakfast.

Essential Tips

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). Spring brings rhododendron blooms and stable weather; Autumn offers crystal-clear post-monsoon visibility. Nepal trips in these windows deliver optimal mountain views.

This trip is rated Moderate. Suitable for beginners with basic fitness — walking 3-4 times per week for 4-6 weeks is adequate. No technical experience needed.

Most nationalities get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport for USD 30 (30 days). Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Required permits and TIMS card arranged by Mantra Adventure. No extra hassle for you.

Included: Airport transfers; domestic flights/transport per itinerary; all trek accommodation; all meals during trek; English-speaking guide; porters (1 per 2 trekkers); all trekking permits; Mantra Adventure duffel bag. Not included: International flights; Nepal visa; personal travel insurance (mandatory); personal gear; tips.

For Langtang Valley Trek (Moderate): Regular walking or swimming 3×/week for 6 weeks is sufficient. You should be comfortable walking 5-6 hours on uneven terrain.

Maximum altitude is 4,984m / Tsergo Ri. Altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,500m. Our itinerary includes acclimatisation days and our guides carry supplemental oxygen. Diamox can be taken as prophylaxis — consult your doctor. Emergency evacuation insurance is mandatory.
