Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Kathmandu Valley UNESCO World Heritage Tour
📍 Kathmandu
An expertly guided full-day tour of four of Kathmandu Valley's seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, accompanied by a licensed Mantra Adventure cultural guide. Morning begins at Pashupatinath Temple (7am–9am) — Nepal's holiest Hindu temple, dedicated to Shiva, situated on the sacred Bagmati River. The ghats alongside the river are used for Hindu cremation ceremonies; sadhus (Hindu holy men) with their painted faces and ash-covered bodies are present throughout. Next: Boudhanath Stupa (9:30am–11am) — one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, ringed by over 50 monasteries and the beating heart of Nepal's Tibetan diaspora community. The meditative atmosphere of circumambulation, spinning prayer wheels and the smell of burning juniper is deeply affecting. Lunch at a traditional Newari restaurant in Bhaktapur (included). Afternoon at Bhaktapur Durbar Square (1pm–3pm) — the best-preserved medieval city in Asia, where the 55-Window Palace, Nyatapola Temple (the tallest pagoda in Nepal) and the artisan quarter of the potters and woodcarvers remain almost unchanged since the 17th century. Final stop: Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple, 3:30pm–4:30pm) — an ancient hilltop stupa with the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha painted on each of its four sides, surrounded by resident rhesus monkeys and offering a panoramic view over the entire Kathmandu Valley. Return to hotel by 5:30pm. Meals: Lunch.
